Dermadry, Hidrex and Idromed

Dermadry, Hidrex and Idromed

Which Iontophoresis machine is right for me?

Dermadry, Hidrex and Idromed are leading manufacturers of iontophoresis machines and are all stocked and distributed by IontoCentre. There are several different factors to consider when choosing your iontophoresis machine. First and foremost should be safety. All Iontophoresis machines sold by IontoCentre have the correct up to date certifications and meet or exceed all required safety standards for medical devices. Not all iontophoresis machines available to buy elsewhere are not. Please ensure that whatever make you buy is CE marked and wherever you choose to buy it, a reputable company. Dermadry, Hidrex and Idromed machines are all fully tested and from reputable manufacturers.

The second most important factor is patient compatibility and which machine is right for your needs. The type of current delivery can be key to success and so below is a brief summary of the different types of Iontophoresis currents, why and when you should use them and what iontophoresis machines have which type of current installed.

Dermadry, Hidrex and Idromed – variations in their current settings

To give you an idea of what that actually means, the iontophoresis machines offered by IontoCentre come with either direct current (100%), standard pulsed current (50%), variable pulsed current (50%-90%) or high efficiency fixed pulsed current (90%). If you perform a 15 minute session in direct current, power (or dosage as its referred to) is applied to the treatment area 100% of the time, so the full 15 minutes. This is 100% efficient but as mentioned, can be uncomfortable for some users on some treatment areas.

Performing the same 15 minute treatment in standard pulsed current (50%) gives a much milder treatment sensation. This enables you to operate at higher voltages than you could in direct current, but it loses efficiency. Therefore, your 15 minutes session only provides power for 50% of the time or 7.5 minutes of dosage. This can mean you need to perform more treatments before seeing results or perform more regular maintenance top up sessions once dry.

Variable pulsed current machines have the ability to adjust the pulsed cycle in 10% increments to tailor the strength of current for your specific needs. You can improve efficiency with every 10% increase in the current cycle, all the way up to 90%, which over the 15 minute session, provides power or dosage for 13.5 minutes, but still gives a milder treatment sensation than direct current iontophoresis.

Up to 90% pulsed current treatments

Efficiency of pulsed current machines

80% more efficient iontophoresis

High efficiency fixed pulsed current is fixed in pulsed current and set to 90%. This provides a mild treatment sensation with the benefit of being 80% more efficient than standard pulsed current, but you do not have the option to lower the current’s intensity to suit patient comfort, or switch to direct current to treat more resilient areas, such as the feet

We offer a range of machines varying from among the lowest priced units available to top end professional grade machines used in clinics and hospitals. All brands of Iontophoresis machine offered by IontoCentre are A1 quality and you can be completely confident in them, the warranties offered on them and in our additional guarantees. All our machines have a 10 week money back guarantee.

Dermadry, Hidrex and Idromed

Dermadry Iontophoresis Machines:

There are three versions of the Dermadry Iontophoresis machine.

Dermadry Iontophoresis machines are High efficiency pulsed current and have fixed maximum pulsed current at 90%. They are very attractively priced and very good quality. They are small, compact, well made and perfect for home based treatments. Dermadry Lab are a Canadian manufacturer of medical devices and equipment. IontoCentre are the UK representatives for Dermadry.

Dermadry Total is a complete system to treat hands feet and underarms. The system contains treatment electrodes to cover all commonly affected areas of the body.

Hidrex Iontophoresis Machines:

There are two models in the current Hidrex Iontophoresis machine range.

The Hidrex ClassicION: switchable between direct current and standard pulsed current and the Hidrex ConnectION is switchable between direct current and variable pulsed current. Hidrex are a German manufacture of medical iontophoresis devices and are the largest European based supplier of iontophoresis machines to hospitals and clinics but can also be purchased for home based treatment.

Both models are offered as either a hands, feet and underarm, hands and feet or underarms only system.

Idromed:

There are also two model variants in the Idromed range of iontophoresis machines

  • Idromed 5GS:
  • Idromed 5PS

Idromed machines are available as either a direct current only or a standard pulsed current machine only.

What current is best for my treatment area?

It is important to note than any iontophoresis machine on IontoCentre.com can be used in any treatment area. The issue is when you receive your machine and try to perform a direct current treatment on for example your underarms, you may find that the direct current power is too uncomfortable at high powers. Some patients can tolerate direct current without issues but until you undergo the therapy, you don’t know.

More often than not, the underarms require a pulsed current therapy. Below are some basic guidelines for each machine type and treatment areas.

  • Feet: The feet normally require direct current efficiency and rarely encounter issues with direct current. For treating excessive sweating of the feet we recommend a direct current machine but you can also use a High efficiency pulsed current machine, or the variable pulsed current machine.
  • Hands: Hands generally can tolerate direct current but discomfort is more often encountered particularly around the webbing of the fingers and around the hyponychium or ‘quicks’ (yeah, we were today years old when we first heard of a hyponychium too) of the nails. So you can use a direct current machine but we suggest a pulsed current machine for best results.
  • Underarms: Despite it being technically possible to treat the underarms with direct current we strongly suggest using a pulsed current device. The skin under the arms is very sensitive and likely to be irritated by direct current.
  • Face, neck, torso or groin: Pulsed current machine only
