Who Should Use Iontophoresis?
Iontophoresis is a proven, non-invasive and drug free treatment for
excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis) . It is an extremely successful therapy that should be considered if high quality maximum strength antiperspirants are unable to control sweat levels. Iontophoresis should be attempted before considering surgery or injections.
What Is Iontophoresis?
It is a treatment used extensively in hospitals and clinics worldwide that passes mild electrical currents into the skin in areas where excessive sweating is a problem. The current is transferred to the body using simple tap water. Common problem areas are the underarms, hands and feet, but Hyperhidrosis can affect any part of the body. All machines come ready to treat hands and feet and accessories for other areas of the body are available from us direct.
How Iontophoresis Works
Mild electrical currents are produced and regulated by the control unit. The current is passed down high quality cables to the treatment electrodes which are placed into trays filled with tap water. Hands and or feet are then placed into the trays, completing the circuit and allowing current to flow into the skin where it slows down secretion at the gland, without causing damage. Treating other areas of the body employs the same process, except that electrodes are covered by absorbent sponges soaked in tap water and placed onto the treatment area.
Using an Iontophoresis Machine
Treating Hyperhidrosis with
iontophoresis is a simple pain free process that can be performed in the comfort of your own home. A series of short 10-15 minute treatments are made daily for the first 3-5 days after which treatment times are expanded to weekly, fortnightly and then monthly sessions. Your individual requirements will determine how often treatments are to be made and our free lifetime support will guide you on this. If you stop the treatment and fail to maintain the therapy, sweating levels will return to pre-treatment levels.
